Architect Lays His Masonic Foundation Stone

22 July 23

Every great architectural masterpiece begins with the laying of a single brick.

Mr Daniel started his journey into Freemasonry within the dignified walls of Leichhardt Lodge, on the 19th of July, the first brick of his lifelong commitment was solidly put into place.

Mr Daniel is not your typical candidate. As a professional architect, he has a unique understanding of what it takes to lay a solid foundation, balance form and function, and powerfully transform ideas into tangible structures. His interest in Freemasonry has been building up over the years, and it finally reached a turning point just before being put on hold due to the worldwide health crisis in 2020.

Before re-embarking on this significant journey, Mr Daniel attended 'Freemasonry Explained'. This course, still in development, provides the information needed for these men to make an informed decision about becoming a Freemason and properly prepares them for the journey ahead.

The Leichhardt Lodge was buzzing with activity. Many visiting Apprentices, a handful of Fellowcrafts, and distinguished Masters from both the Concord-Ryde and neighbouring Artarmon District were present. Together, they formed a vibrant tapestry of the Masonic Brotherhood.

As the initiation ceremony unfolded, W Bro Jano Toussounian, the Worshipful Master of the Leichhardt Lodge, led the proceedings with the precision of a seasoned craftsman. RW Bro Darren Allatt, the Junior Deacon, conducted the candidate with assurance. The Master was supported by RW Brothers Sayer, Hogan, Allatt and VW Bro Abdennour who all delivered the charges with expertise and wisdom.

Once the formalities ended, everyone moved to enjoy Leichhardt's well-known hospitality. Brother Daniel responded to the toast in his honour, sharing about his journey, his excitement and his readiness for the road ahead.

Newly initiated, Brother Daniel will now join a Masonic Study Group with other Apprentices from around the District at the Leichhardt Lodge. This group is designed to provide new Masons with more knowledge about their first step in Freemasonry. All interested Apprentices are welcome to join.

The Leichhardt Lodge is vibrant and growing, and it already has plans for another candidate's initiation next month (17th August, Concord West 7:15pm). This will be followed by the Lodge's September Installation, where Junior Warden, Bro Jabbour, will be installed into the Chair of King Solomon. Come October, there's the promise of yet another Initiation, as a Brother-In-Law becomes a Brother-In-The-Craft.

Much like an architect working on a blueprint, The Leichhardt Lodge continues to build its Brotherhood with Brother Daniel and more Apprentices in wait. But in Freemasonry, as in architecture, a structure's beauty lies not just in its foundation but in its continuous growth. These newly initiated brothers are just getting started on their unique paths.
