Christmas Address by the Grand Chaplain

24 December 25

Christmas Address by the Grand Chaplain, RW Bro Arnel Landicho PAGM, as delivered at the December Quarterly Communication.

Brethren, Ladies, and Guests,

As we gather in fellowship during this festive season, let us pause to reflect on the meaning of Christmas and Hanukkah through the lens of our Masonic principles. They are more than a celebration of tradition—it is a reminder of light entering the world, of hope renewed, and of love shared freely.

In Masonry, we are taught to seek light, to walk uprightly, and to extend the hand of brotherly love. The season calls us to do the same: to let our light shine in the darkness, to bring warmth where there is coldness, and to offer kindness where there is need.

This season reminds us of the virtues we hold dear:

  • Faith, which guides us even when the path is uncertain.
  • Hope, which lifts our spirits and strengthens our resolve.
  • Charity, the greatest of all, which binds us together in service and compassion.

Brethren, as Masons, we are charged to build not only temples of stone, but temples of character. The celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah allows us to build with love, forgiveness, and generosity. It is a time to remember that the true gifts we give are not wrapped in paper, but in the sincerity of our hearts.

So tonight, as we celebrate in fellowship, let us carry forward the message of Christmas and Hanukkah: that peace is possible, that goodwill can prevail, and that love is the greatest gift we can share.

On behalf of all gathered here, I wish you a Merry Christmas filled with joy, brotherhood, and light. May the coming year be one of Humility, Integrity, and Harmony.

Let us pray:

Great Architect of the Universe, we thank You for the gift of fellowship, for the bonds of brotherhood, and for the light that guides our steps. As we celebrate this season of peace and goodwill, bless our families, our lodges, and all humanity with harmony, health, and hope.

May the spirit of Christmas inspire us to live with charity, to act with integrity, and to walk always in the light. Strengthen us to be builders of peace in a world that longs for unity.

Grant that the coming year may be filled with joy, wisdom, and service to others. Amen
