Freemasonry Flourishes in Canberra as Queanbeyan Lodge Installs New Master

QUEANBEYAN, NSW – In an honourable display of tradition, Lodge Queanbeyan St Andrew recently celebrated its annual Installation ceremony, proving that Freemasonry remains a vibrant force in the heart of the ACT. The event, held at the Queanbeyan Masonic Centre, saw W Bro Mick Handley officially take the reins as Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the ensuing year.

The ceremony, originally planned for November 25th, faced a last-minute hurdle when the Worshipful Master Elect unexpectedly contracted COVID. With flights booked and excitement brewing, the Lodge swiftly rescheduled the event for December 16th, a testament to the dedication and flexibility of its members.

The Installation itself was a solemn and dignified affair, steeped in the rich traditions of Freemasonry. The Installing Master W Bro Colin Coke presided over the ceremony, with RW Bro John Jacobson OAM PDGM, representing the Grand Master.  The Lodge room buzzed with the presence of visiting brethren from nearby Lodges, creating a palpable sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.

Following the Installation, the evening culminated in a celebratory banquet held in the Centre's Hall. Over 70 brethren, their partners, and invited guests gathered to enjoy a delicious three-course meal and raise a toast to the new Master and the enduring spirit of Freemasonry. The air filled with lively conversation and warm reunions, solidifying the strong bonds of brotherhood that form the cornerstone of the Masonic fraternity.

This year's Installation ceremony at Lodge Queanbeyan St Andrew was more than just a changing of the guard.
